Platform role

ReelRoots is a marketplace that connects independent and AI filmmakers with brands seeking product placement opportunities. ReelRoots facilitates discovery, communication, and proposal workflows between filmmakers and brands; it is not a party to any placement agreement, production contract, or transaction that filmmakers and brands enter into with each other.

User responsibilities

  • Provide accurate account and profile information, and keep it current.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • Use the platform only for its intended purpose: discovering and negotiating product placement collaborations.
  • Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction and the jurisdictions you operate in.

Brand responsibilities

  • Only list products and brand assets you have the rights to offer for placement.
  • Honor the terms of any placement agreement you enter into with a filmmaker.
  • Respect script and project confidentiality once granted access.

Filmmaker responsibilities

  • Only list films and projects you have the rights to represent.
  • Accurately represent production stage, timeline, and distribution plans.
  • Honor the terms of any placement agreement you enter into with a brand.

User-generated content

You retain ownership of content you upload (profiles, film and product listings, scripts, messages). By posting content, you grant ReelRoots a license to display and process it as needed to operate the platform — including showing public listings in search, and mediating script access through the grant workflow described in the Confidentiality Policy.

Prohibited conduct

  • Impersonating another person, brand, or entity.
  • Posting fraudulent listings, fake credits, or fabricated production history.
  • Circumventing the script access grant system or sharing another user's confidential materials without authorization.
  • Harassment, hate speech, or abusive conduct toward other users.
  • Scraping, reverse-engineering, or attempting to bypass platform security controls.

Account termination

ReelRoots may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Users may delete their own account at any time from Account Settings, which removes their profile and associated content per the Privacy Policy's data deletion section.

Intellectual property

See the separate Intellectual Property Statement for the full policy. In summary: filmmakers retain ownership of their creative work, brands retain ownership of their brand assets, and ReelRoots does not acquire ownership of either party's IP by virtue of platform use.

Disclaimer of warranties

The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. ReelRoots does not guarantee the accuracy of listings, the outcome of any negotiation, or that any placement will be completed.

Limitation of liability

ReelRoots is not liable for disputes between filmmakers and brands, for the outcome or performance of any placement agreement, or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from platform use.

Indemnification

Users agree to indemnify ReelRoots against claims arising from their content, their conduct on the platform, or their breach of these terms.

Dispute resolution
